MAKING THE SWITCH TO AN AIR-TO-WATER HEAT PUMP

Once you have decided to replace your old heating system with a new and more efficient one, such as the ESTIA air-to-water heat pump, you will need to look at your current system in a bit more detail. If you already have a hot water heating system, it is absolutely necessary to consider the heat-emitting element. The key factor here is the supply water temperature required; in other words, the temperature of the water in the heating circuit. Supply water temperatures of up to +65°C are possible with an ESTIA Split Hydrobox and it can therefore be combined with a whole host of consumers.

Underfloor/panel heating

Supply water temperatures are between 25°C and 40°C. The ideal temperature depends on the structural circumstances such as flooring, insulation, etc., and the personal preferences of the inhabitants.

Radiators

Depending on the age and design, supply water temperatures of between 35° and 60°C are needed here. This also depends on general conditions such as room size, number of radiators, insulation, personal comfort levels, etc.

Fan coil units

In terms of how they work, these are similar to an air conditioning system. They can be used to heat and cool a room, and can be operated with a wide range of supply water temperatures and are therefore well suited to a large number of applications.

WHAT DOES AN AIR-TO-WATER HEAT PUMP CONSIST OF?

All ESTIA air-to-water heat pumps are what are known as split systems, i.e., the refrigeration cycle is split over two units: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The outdoor unit is used to generate and convert energy while the indoor unit transfers it to the heating circuit.

The outdoor unit

Dimensions and volume depend on the heating and cooling capacity. The unit is quick and easy to install taking account of local circumstances.

The indoor unit

The Hydrobox is ideal for a new heating system. With dimensions of 72.5 x 45 x 23.5 cm (HxWxD), the Hydrobox can also be installed in small rooms. Weighing just 27 kg, it is easy to mount on the wall and leaves plenty of free space for more storage.

Control

All ESTIA systems have an integrated control panel. By adding a WiFi module, you can control your air source heat pump from any location using the TOSHIBA AC control app. By fitting an additional wired remote control in the home, it can also be controlled locally, from say the living room.

DO YOU WANT TO USE YOUR HEAT PUMP TO PRODUCE HOT WATER TOO?

You can easily run an ESTIA DHW Mono domestic hot water heat pump in parallel to the Hydrobox. The ESTIA Mono has an integrated hot water tank with a capacity of up to 260 l and is installed indoors. No outdoor unit is needed.

COMBINING A HEAT PUMP WITH PHOTOVOLTAICS

You will need a supply of electricity in order to run an air source heat pump. To do this as efficiently and environmentally friendly as possible, the ESTIA can be easily combined with a PV system. This makes your heating system even cheaper to run.
